Grandparents Day Celebrations

By Nathaniel Nunes

There were warm smiles on the faces of our grandparents as we celebrated Grandparents Day.

This day is also celebrated as the feast of St. Anne. St. Anne was the mother of Immaculate Mary and the grandmother of Jesus. Catholics have always considered St Anne precious and as Mary’s role model. Being the grandmother of Jesus, grandparents are honoured with joy among families.

After the Mass, there was a short programme for the grandparents organized by the parishioners. There were games and novelties such as who is the youngest grandmother, grandparents with the most grandchildren, who could sing a song for their grandchildren and so on. All the grandparents were offered a gift as a token of appreciation.
