Love Life, Live Life

By Nathaniel Nunes

On 15th March, 2020, Fr. Savio D'Souza, Director, Diocesan Youth Center visited our Parish to speak to our Youth on various topics. The interactive session included how the Youth can connect to God, about facing difficulties and living life to the fullest.

Long Way to Go

Fr Savio started with the theme for the session as “Love Life, Live Life”. He explained, how we are still young, can be so much more, and have a long way to go in life.

Facing Difficulties:

Problems are a part and parcel of life, however it is important not to give up when faced with them. Being the Lenten season, Fr. Savio shared with us how Christ carried His Cross to Calvary, pulling Himself up despite falling down several times.

“Don’t be mediocre. Try to improve & go beyond. Challenge yourself !”

Learning Patience:

Fr Savio told us about his own life experience. He was a talented sportsman and also had a bad temper. One day he suffered a knee injury and could not play anymore. He found it difficult to accept this initially and would sadly watch his friends playing the sport he loved.

Slowly he accepted that he would not be able to play anymore, making him patient with time.

“The Lord broke me and gifted me patience.”

-Fr Savio D’Souza

Getting closer to God:

We usually repent for our sins, be on our best behaviour in preparation for Lent and Christmas seasons. Fr. Savio asked the young people present not wait for seasons to come instead be good all the time.

“Why wait for seasons to prepare when my preparation can be 24x7.”

-Fr Savio D’Souza

Fr. Savio told us how he used Pope Francis’s advice in his life and asked us to do the same:

“When you get closer to God, expect no miracles. But the closer you get to Him your outlook on life will change.”

-Pope Francis

The session ended with a recap and a prayer.
