Play ball : Mormugao Deanery hosts Youth Sports Meet

The spirit of camaraderie prevailed as youth teams from the Cortalim, Sancoale, Baina, Desterro, Bogmalo, Vasco, Mormugao and Chicalim parishes under the ‘Mormugao Deanery Youth Ex-Co Committee’ converged on 24th Nov 2019 at the Regina Mundi school ground for the ‘Deanery Sports Meet 2019’, an Inter-Parish Sports Competition.

The participants at the day-long event, basked in the festival atmosphere with the competitors having a field day participating enthusiastically in the various ongoing games such as baldi ball, football, tie breaker, tennikoit, relay, etc,.

The Chicalim Parish Youth, for the first time ever had the maximum participation. All the teams competed fiercely to gain supremacy against each other. Ultimately, the winner’s trophy was clinched by the Cortalim Parish Youth with their powerful and enthusiastic performance. The Bogmalo parish Youth bagged the runners up trophy with their brilliant smart play leaving the Desterro Parish Youth, as a close second runners up.

The Chicalim Parish Youth, won the 2nd place in relay, tennikoit, tie-breaker and 3rd place in baldi ball and tug of war and stood a respectable 4th place in the final standings.
