St. Joseph Vaz Cup Football Tournament

The 6th Edition of the St. Joseph Vaz Cup Football tournament was organized by the John Paul II Foundation for Sports, Goa in association with the St. Francis Xavier's Parish, Chicalim at the Panchayat ground, Chicalim. This Football tournament is specially organised for the priests working in the Goa Diocese.

In the Group A matches, Pastoral Institute defeated the Salesians by 2-1 margin and drew with the North Goa Diocesan 0-0. In another match, the North Goa Diocesan team defeated Salesians by a 1-0 score.
In Group B matches, the South Goa Diocesan beat the Capuchins 4-0 and the Pilar Fathers by a 2-0 margin. In another match, Capuchins beat Pilar Fathers 1-0.
The South Goa Diocesan won the 6th edition of the St. Joseph Vaz Cup Football tournament by defeating Pastoral Institute, Old Goa through a solitary goal scored by Fr. Valentino.
Fr. Jovial from the Pastoral Institute was adjudged the Best Striker, and Fr. Valentino from South Goa was adjudged as the Best Player, while Fr. Peter of Pilar Fathers was declared the Best goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Meanwhile, in the inaugural edition of the St. Joseph Vaz Cup Football tournament for the seminarians in the Goa Diocese, the Palloti Brothers from Assagao defeated the Pilar Seminarians through the tiebreaker (4-3) after a goalless draw during the regular time.
The one-day tournaments drew a large number of spectators, who came to witness the priests and seminarians put on their football shoes and display their awesome talent and skill.
